I am playing co-op with a buddy and each quest get message that it will not be logged in my book like it is not counting as progress if I am in co-op. Anyone know the deal with this and if I did something wrong? I want to love this game.

I keep getting the same thing. I would like to know how to play with my friends and have all of us level , advance the story line, and complete quests together. It appears that only the host get all the action. I guess that's okay when someone you don't know comes in and starts completing quests without you, but when friends want to play together, it kind of blows.

I wonder if there is an option for the host of a game to allow quest and XP sharing.

This happens if you join a friend that's farther in the story than you. Even if it's only a chapter ahead or so, that message will appear.

so... if i'm a lvl 2 character and my friend is a lvl 3 character. I need to be host for both of us to get XP, and complete quests?

Level doesn't matter. If the host main story-line quest is not the same even by just one quest to the next, if you use the invite system its possible you will have the co-op warning.

That's why there is also a nearby system, I was kind of curious on how the game lobby works after a while and joined (I actually joined) into a 4 player team and there was around a level 25,37, and someone else I didn't see the level (someone had deathstalker zed's demise level 37 weapon)

btw, even if there was a co-op warning you still will be able to get exp and items (this is sometimes bugged, re-invite if its a must) , just not progress. If you want your progress done, ask your friend and invite them so you can be the host instead.
I got bugged once in co-op and as host I couldn't do any sidequests unless I finish all main story. Just exit the game and just invite all over and try again.

(Your screen might freeze during game-play)

Right on. I'll try it tonight.
