Set a side quest as your current quest, then let Ope die, when you click to revert checkpoints it should send you back to the island as long as the sidequest is on the island. then you can restock on stuff :)

OK. I'll try your solution but if it doesn't work, I'm never playing this game again.

The problem I am having is with the autosave. It autosaves so frequently that I've used ALL my ammo trying to defend Ope and then it autosaves me with nothing and restarting from the last checkpoint returns me to the start of the battle without any ammo or med kits.

I'm practically down to fighting with bare knuckles, unable to go and repair/get supplies because Ope won't follow me out of village area, and I'm trapped here because when he dies I'm right back to square one in the village. What am I supposed to do, other than start the freaking game over?!

try setting your quest to some of the continuing quests and see what happens. like the get alcohol for mike or water for that girl missions.
you can try pausing the game also going to game lobby and joining someones game that is in the same spot. when i play this spot now coop it is insanely easy.

my technique to beat this spot is deobombs. get 3-4 of them. throw one at the thug. two past the fire to kill those zombies and butcher then one to the right to take out the infected as they come running up.

basically you have to escort a "survivor" though this area. and the stupid idiot runs right in the middle of about 8 zombies, a thug, a butcher and a few infected. needless to say he dies pretty quickly. and when you restart hes already standing in the middle of him. so basically everyone wears out all their weapons quickly trying to save him

run back before they can attack the survivor. look for a weapon in the previous village, called dependable brutal machete. it's on the hill with the statues in the middle of the village take this weapon to the workbench at the boat and upgrade it, run back to the survivor with this powerful weapon and finish off these sons of *****es

I've been stuck in the village now for about 3 months and I'm really sick of it. All my weapons are worn out. The survivor I need to escort is suicidal. I can't run back to another village. There are no side missions left to complete. Please help!

that might be your best bet or ask for help on this site, im sure me or anyone else can join with our level 60 characters and just maul down the zombies for you
