IMPORTANT! How to Avoid SAVE Corruption!!

Wow, This is still not fixed as of 23rd May 2012.

I just lost 1 and half hours of building stuff up like Bleach and Metal Scrap (for Ammo), and good weapons to use for when i started a new game +3.... I won't bother continuing with this game now I know it's like this, and I'll be very weary of buying any more from this development team in future, sorry but when you say back in 2011 that "you're working on it",, and then it is still the same half way through 2012... well it doesnt say much does it guys.

This game is awesome WHEN IT WORKS,, but after what i just experienced it is a game breaker for me, totally took away the shine from this game in my opinion.

it kinda worked out good for you. for most people they lost their entire game file and had to start from the beggining so if you just lost a hour or 2 of gameplay thats a good thing i guess. yeah this game is glitchy as heck but still very fun to play. i lost my character halfway through the second playthrough and that was like a week after it came out. i still play a few times a week and have yet to lose my save file

you can try posting in the trading section and see if anyone has all the stuff you lost and see if they will hook you up. there people who play who have like 9999 if everything

Back when I first got Dead Island (1 or 2 days after release) I was playing as much as I could. I was playing as Xian, and beat the game. The next day when I turned it on, I was knocked back to 73%. Believe me, I was ticked right off.

I just recently started playing Dead Island again, and beat the game with Logan. I now have started a Sam B character. Would (if I were to ever get it) the save corruption only happen to one of my characters, or all of them at once?

it just corrupts the one you are playing. im the same as you, bought it when it first came out and played the heck out of it. i ended up finishing the game and i got the corrupt file on the second play through when i was escorting yerma to the lab. i jumped off a cliff and it saved as i was dying and i couldnt load that game. im just glad it didnt happen on my first play through

but im like 300hrs into it and never had any issues again

Iv playing it on the third attempt and have had no problems. Also i am hoaring ALOT! I mean ALOT!! Maybe its because i only just brought the GOTY, in game patch??

i dont think so. my level 60 logan has the max of 150 items in the storage unit box and i also have my actually inventory itself pretty full, i like looting everything i find including all the random misc. items like food and water, i have almost 4000 diamonds and my game runs fine. i would be pretty p!ssed if this save corruption ever happened tho. but i have the dlc bloodbath arena, and even tho jins storage and the arena storage are the same, maybe its just when you use jin. i never go to jin anyways whenever i want something out of my storage unit. idk if you've read all the post on this thread but i have, and from what i read they did release a patch, and people that did have a corrupted file were able to load that same file just fine after installing the patch.

I've been the same way I always saved everything I found. The one time it happened to me it checkpointed as I was dying from jumping off a cliff

just happened to me. 80 hrs in with Logan. All gone. Can't believe it.

thats crazy, i thought this glitch was pretty much done and over with. it was a big problem with the game first came out but havent heard of anything happening lately.
