My Dead Island will not work from Steam!

Hello there.

I need a little bit of help, as my patience is wearing thin on the matter.

I have downloaded "Dead Island" from "Steam" last night but it will not get past the "Preparing to launch Dead Island" popup. That flashes for less than a second and then.... nothing. It dosen't crash or anything, just, nothing. No attempt to start the game.

I heard that I needed to change something (Without going into detail.) from "En" to "en". I have done so, that did nothing. Then I heard I had to right click Dead Island (in Steam) go to "Properties" - "Local Files" then "Verify Integrity of Game Cache", again, It did nothing.

I have also tried little silly things like unpluging my headset/ speakers.

Any help would be awesome! I just paid £30 and haven't been able to play the blasted thing.

P.s. I heard these from a post over 4 weeks old... How long has this matter been going on for? And why is it still for sale if X amount of people can't play it?

P.p.s. If there isn't a way to get it running is there a way for Steam to refund me?

Well... I have the PS3 version of Dead Island, so there's really only one question I can answer and it's this one:

It's October 15, 2011 at the time of your post. It's been 5 weeks and 4 days since Dead Island was released in NA [Take off 3 days for PAL regions], so I'm going to say... Not long? Possibly since the very first day. Dead Island had and still has many issues on all platforms. Some of them have been resolved through patches but not many...

I'm going to take a guess and say you already have but...

Have you tried playing in Compatibility Mode [not sure why you would need to but who knows...] or tried to run the Launcher as an Admin?

Anyway, I've already had my fun. Got the Platinum Trophy and now I'm just waiting for the release of the DLC so I can get 100%. I've been either watching anime, television series, playing RAGE or just hanging out on this Forum lately.

I haven't been able to play Dead Island in MP which I means I haven't actually played Dead Island in quite a while... I don't play in SP... Ever. xD

Obtaining Platinum means I collected ALL trophies relevant to the primary game, some people don't know this so I'm just saying so now. That way I shouldn't have to explain it in later posts. For this thread anyway...

My DI did that after one of the updates but now its been like 1 week or so and now its working as it shold, i think you shold contact steam and get a rebuy of the game if you dont get it to work.

This is exactly why I would NEVER buy anything from Steam again
they give nothing for refunds @ all if your game never works your out your $$ period..

I bought a hard copy for myself of MW2 activated it then my son wanted to play along with me so I bought a copy from Steam as there were no hard copies anywhere in town..
& Guess what since BOTH copies were under my steam account we can not play together still because once one of us logs into steam (my account) it boots the other off..HEH !
I asked them if I could gift it to him they said no way sucker you gotta buy a whole new game with a different steam account...
