Survival Of The Fittest.

He awoke in a daze, the cries and screams of people rang in his ears. The sun beat down on his bloody face. Wiping his face with his sleeve Matthew raised his head off the steering wheel. Dark smoke rose from the cars engine, as lucky as he was to survive the crash, the car was in pieces and was signalling the undead it was only a matter of time before this place would be overrun. He pushed out of the cars dented door, As he got back on his feet his left leg gave way putting him to his knees. He glanced down at his leg realising that the crash was the cause of injury. He grunted to himself ‘****ing zeds’. Grasping his leg he scrambled to a nearby shop.

He barged through the door and slammed it behind him, He surveyed the shop thoroughly he then grabbed a nearby waist high shelving to his right and slid it in front of the door as a barricade. Matthew saw a light at the back of the shop, he clambered over the remains of the shops stock and shelves towards the source of the light. Wary of the state of Banoi he knew that if anyone was upstairs whether it was human or not, it was survival of the fittest. He slowly crept up the stairs spotting a baseball bat on the stairs, grabbing it as he slowly passed it. Analysing his newly found weapon he saw the bat dripping with blood, Matthew knew by now the previous owner of the bat was long gone.

He checked around the room. It was deserted, apart from a carcass lying on a bloody mattress. The room had been emptied, presumably when the previous residents left for a safe haven. He peered through the blinds down into the town square of Banoi, a crowd of walkers had gathered around the crashed vehicle. Matthew slumped onto the ground by the window, He realised sooner or later he’d die in this place. With his injured leg he knew he couldn’t make it past the zombies, Morale was low. He sighed, ‘F**k this’ he mumbled under his breath.

Chapter 2

He yawned, Scratching his head lightly as he did so. He watched out the window as he heard car engines rumbling in the distance, the noise became louder until Matthew could see the vehicles in the square. Two old looking pickup trucks coated in dust and blood pulled up with a few men squatting in the back of each truck weilding homemade weaponry from household objects. The masked men jumped down from the back of the trucks making quick work of the zombies my car accident had gathered, in twos the men scouted the area. Most probably searching for supplies or any survivors.

Matthew contemplated whether or not to show himself, they didn't seem to friendly. He knew even with his damaged leg he could make his way to safety. Luckily they didn't seem too interested in thoroughly searching the shops. Before he knew it, the looters had regrouped and were already leaving. The two trucks following a dusty path leading deeper into the Banoi forest. Matthew saw their killing spree as an opportunity to escape.

With no time to lose, He scurried down stairs then moving the barrier. He hobbled outside, observing both paths. The path leading into the forest, he knew that would be a bad idea considering the looters took that path. The only other option was to go to the outskirts of Banoi, towards the resort. He hastily made towards the path, following it towards the hotel.

It looks promising. Continue it please, I'm really looking forward to see how he escapes the zombie outbreak with an injured leg.

I put up chapter 2, I blame how short it is on the London riots. (I'll do some more tomorrow.)
