(PS3) CO-OP Freezing problem

Recently me and my friend bought dead island with the intention of playing co op. However whenever we try to play within two to three minutes one of consoles will lock up (usually its mine but it has happened to him on a couple of occasions). Also neither of us can see each other move, for example my character is standing still on his screen while i'm moving around on mine and vice versa. I am new to the game so I dont know if this is a common issue but everything about the game freezing that I have found seems to be from when it first came out.

Did you try hosting/letting your friend host the game? When a friend of mine was hosting, my Xbox would freeze on most loading screens. Then I hosted, and it was fine.

A lot of times it can happen if somebody is dropping into games spamming with a 'grenade launcher' it almost always freezes somebody's console.

The only time my game freezes is when playing online and driving it's 90% of the time

I've had it happen when I let the game just sit on the pause screen and my room was empty, came back to unpause about 10 minutes later it was locked up...

It happened 3 times for me in the same night and 2 times for him. is there anything to do? i looked many forums for it and it was doing it even at the launch of the game. there's no solution yet?

You cant do anything. Its a common bug in the game. I suggest just getting used to it. :P

You can try this, seems to help a lot. Don't run over zombies, especially when driving fast while other people are in the car. If your friend is driving tell him not to hit/run over zombies as much as possible.
If you notice most times people complain about the game freezing up it's usually while they're passengers in a car with the driver slamming into zombies at full throttle. I stopped running over zombies and haven't had anyone freeze up while I drive unless I accidentally hit a zombie while flooring the throttle.

Also, the less misc type items you have stockpiled the less choppy the game gets. If you notice a game where your using a totally brand new character plays much smoother than your main character saves. That's due to all the items hoarded in the misc item section of your inventory. Of course it probably won't stop me from hoarding misc items though lol, its still tolerable. It's just the freezing that's an issue for me, as I'm sure it is for most other heads as well.
