Exploring the Hotel: Start of Game

    Reader,

So I started a new game with Xian and when you first start out (in your hotel room) and get to the point where the guy says you need a weapon, get to the storage room. So you follow the trail and eventually you hear some Zombies scream and he tells you to head for the storage room.

Well running along the wall (with doors on them) I saw the ICON appear to open the door. However, I did not go in it, but did start a new game to test if I could go in it and the door opened and I went in. Closed it quickly to keep out the LV 50 zombies and of course one was in the room.

I was just wandering if any one who has replayed the game a few times managed to kill all the zombies and explore that first part of the Hotel. Any good hidden stuff there (beyond the suit/brief cases/ & cabinets you can open)?

*Also this was with no Patch and PS3 (not that PC/360/PS3 should matter in this case) and have not tried it with Patch installed.

I remember a ton of people trying this when the game came out. Don't remember what was in the hotel, probably not much or something worth noting, not sure though. I think people said you should get like 20 levels from it. Something about continuously kicking, before kicking took stamina but you have no patch. But do you have regular or game of the year?
If you are reading this, you have 1 new rule to follow. DO NOT, and I mean DO NOT MESS WITH MY DR. PEPPER

I know about the kicking. I tried it when I first got the game and started a new game with Logan. It took me a few times to make it to the elevator, but eventually I killed like 5 LV 50 and then ran to the storage room. I have the regulare version, but plan on getting the GOTY payday.

I just wanted to know mostly how much Exploring you can do if your at the right level to kill all the LV 50 zombies and if more then one door opens in that hallway (heading to the Storage Room).

I've never seen people talk about a Room you can go in that has a Zombie in it. Most people just talk about what you already mentioned: gaining LV 20 and for the record I also already used Google, but either my search terms suck or no one has really talked about this.

EDIT: I went back (New Game; Xian) and it took awhile to kill the zombies (a few I managed to push down the elevator shaft; don't do this as you get no EXP for them going down their and dying), but only one room seems to be able to open for entrance. Entering this room when you have not killed all or most of the infected will cause them to appear in the room next door through the outside door to the hall (it opens automatically). I found it easier to kill the zombies from the elevator as you can take on 3 infected at once and survive. However, fighting them in the room became overwhelming. Once you take care most of the Infected from the elevator you can leave it and kill the Walkers in the open (they are slow and rarely hit you if your good). I would knock them down and then start punching away (occasionally making sure the other two stayed on the ground when fighting 3 Walkers)...this is better then kicking them to death as you can get more EXP for repetitive punches. At this point I had 4 Infected left (down the hall oposite the storage room) and managed to lure them out one at a time and knock them down and beat them to a bloody pulp. The room has nothing special and only random Mod items or basic items. However, I managed to get to LV 7 (would have been higher, but 3 zombies fell down the elevator shaft and you get no EXP for it). Happy hunting (Again no Patch installed and not GOTY Edition)!

There was a trick where you can go in that room and jump on the bed and just repeatly kick them. I tried it a few times, I've got close but never killed one they eventually push each other into you

Yes, that's why I like the elevator better as it some what hinders them from getting in. They can still get in, but it's not as "open" as the room.

start a new game by joining an invite. on joining the game choose the character you wish to be and choose new game. Lvl up as much as possible and get Sam B's Fury weapon. You can now successfully keep the zombies at bay while you explore.
I got a dig bick. You this read wrong. You read that wrong too.

    YOU! IT'S YOU MAGNUM

That is actually quite smart, better if you get a logan, level up to 24 and use either a homerun bat or a mindblowing knife.
