    zombie types

Would someone explain to me or give me their best guess as to what makes the different kinds of zombies. None of them exluding the walkers and infected make any sense Imo. What makes a suicider zombie, why do the explode, are thugs just really big guys that got bit? And what happened to make a floater zombie seemed to me like the first one we encounter had been there awhile. Are the suiciders even zombies or humans that were mutated by the virus?

The floaters are pretty much only found by water. So they are just full of water. That one I get, but the rams I never understood. Wish they would explain them. Its not like they were bit and turned into one. Someone somewhere had to make them and put them in straight jackets

I think the rams may signify that the virus is airborn seems like the only logical way to explain them because it would be hard enough to get a human that size into a straight jacket let alone a zombie that size.I get that the floaters are full of water but what makes them spit poison?

If you look at the manual that comes with the game there is a section that describes the zombies.

it describes them but mostly just appearence and how they attack it doesn't say how they were created which it seems no games, or movies can ever explain well.

If the manual doesn't explain it, why ask us?
Most we can do is speculate how they were created anyway.
There is probably no clear answer to this whatsoever.

Rams were prisoners from the Insane Asylum, so therefore they already were in the straight jackets as humans. And their size, as well as the Thug size, I always just assumed they were big to begin with (even as humans), such as body builders. And the floaters were infected near the water--it takes a drowned body around 2-4 days (assuming somewhat warm water) to become bloated/float--so that makes sense especially since you don't find them until the city.

The suiciders were explained in the game by having been exposed to some toxic substance, that causes them to mutate and seek out living humans and explode upon contact.

I would assume the disease affects people differently, considering walkers act more typical of zombies (like in The Night of the Living Dead) and the infected act like those untypical zombies (never dead/just exposed to a 'rage' virus). On pure speculation, maybe the walkers are those infected after death--and the infected are those who were infected before death (or they move differently due to different injuries, the walkers being simply more roughed up and just unable to run).

The strategy guide gives an insight that's actually a fun read on all the enemies in the game. tvtropes.org also brings up how these monsters are all seemingly references to classic zombie lore, and personally I've narrowed it down like this: Walker = The Walking Dead, Infected = 28 Days Later, Suicider = either Dead Space or Killer7, Floater = HOTD, Ram = Resident Evil, Butcher = not a zombie but I'm pretty sure that's Predator. The BIDF also look remarkably similar to Umbrella's private army on RE3. Thugs, Raskols, and Afran's guerrilla of a-holes seem Deep Silver's thing though.

What bothered me was that it says the Rams were already insane, but were they all ungodly huge in the asylum? If they grew to the zombie size, they would have broke the straight jacket. It is ripped open in the back, but it would be completely torn apart.
