There's a guy in the church that stands by the workbench. He gives u the quest to find and bring back tools. After u complete the quest he wants u to bring something back to him but I can't figure out what it is.

I think he asks for nails or large nails; it's a continuous quest.

That's another NPC, he's there when you go up the stairs in the church.
As for this question, I had the same problem, he kept asking for tools even though I gave them.
The next day when I went to play again he suddenly had a reward for me, I guess it was just a glitch?

there must be a spade at the jungle camp in front of the door where the fast travel is.
where you had to drop the weapon-crates for that tattoo-guy.

edit: correction! it is the river village! and there are two shiny brandnew looking spades there!

Hate that guy, he can get his own tools.
Also hate the guy that wants you to hang posters throughout Moresby...."Have you got those posters up yet?"
Some of the side quests are useless in this game and can be skipped...especially if its just for cash.
