PS3: weapon mods look exactly the same...?

    Hi
Im playing Dead Island on the PS3, and i have noticed that many of the different Weapon Mods appear to do the exact same thing to my weapons.

    For example:

    Lv 35 'Pirhana Gabriels's Sledgehammer'
    Dam + 37
    Force + 1
    Dur -2
    CRITICAL CHANCE + 4%

    Lv 35 'Weighted Gabriels's Sledgehammer'
    Dam + 37
    Force + 1
    Dur -2
    CRITICAL CHANCE + 4%

    ...
Surely the two mods dont do exactly the same right?
Is this a bug on the PS3 version?
If no, how can i know exactly what a mod does if not all mod effects are listed?

Someone correct me if I am wrong,

It does different things, it will show the damage, force, durability, etc as the same as another if you were using a different mod but the difference is that with a mod it will have a symbol that represents what a mod does like a lightning bolt off to the side.
Add me if you want to play co op in Riptide .

Let me explain in another way...

    - I have the regular 'Gabriels Sledeghammer'.
    - I then try uppgrading it to 'Pirhana Gabriels's Sledgehammer':

    Lv 35 'Pirhana Gabriels's Sledgehammer'
    Damage + 37
    Force + 1
    Duration -2
Special effects icons = CRITICAL CHANCE + 4%

    - I change my mind and try upprading it to 'Weighted Gabriels's Sledgehammer'

    Lv 35 'Weighted Gabriels's Sledgehammer'
    Damage + 37
    Force + 1
    Duration -2
Special effects icons = CRITICAL CHANCE + 4%

    ...
Try compairing the two mods above.
Doesnt anyone find this a little bit strange at all?

The two mods do exactly the same thing.
Are there any hidden stats to the two mods?

It's the type of damage it does, the piranha mod allows for bleeding damage on critical hits

Yeah lets go with that lol...

sounds about right to me, it still is kind of stupid that they don't explain it that much... Even when you are modding a weapon the description of what the mod is, is kind of vague.

I thought it was something like that, thanks for clearing that up.
So the Weighted mod only does critical bonus, with no additional effect i presume?

I find this very strange, the 'Nail'd Mod' for example has two effects:
    - BLEED x 1
    - CRITICAL + 4%
( both effects are shown when creating the weapon )

While 'Pirhana Mod' has two effects:
    - BLEED x...
    - CRITICAL + 4%
( only the CRITICAL effect is shown when creating the weapon )

    ...
How do i make sense of this?
Does 'Nail'd Mod' potentially cause Bleeding uppon regular hits, while 'Piranha Mod' only causes Bleeding uppon critical hits?

No. Any MOD that causes bleeding will occur with a critical hit much in the same way that any MOD with lightning or fire damage will cause an effect with a critical hit. The bleeding causes the enemy to bleed slowly. It's not as practical or effective once higher player levels are reached because the damage is minimal.

Yeah bleeding does very little to help you out. I was stoked to try out the bleed bombs but just like most of the mods in the game I was very disappointed with it. I hope riptide will have different mods that really do different things. Maybe a Chainsaw that kills EVeRYThInG! Or a hidden light saber, but that's for a different thread

The stats may be the same but the effects are different. Thats the most easiest way ever to explain this... everyone explained it so hard and confusing.

Example: A shock mod may do and add the same stats to a weapon as a poison mod but the shock mod will shock the zombie and a poison mod will poison the zombie. The stats may be the same but the effects are way different.

Yes i undertand that different mods have different effects.
What conserns me however is that ( when creating a weapon mod ):

Some Mods display all their effects, like

    'Nail'd Mod' icons
    - BLEED x 1
    - CRITICAL + 4%

While other mods seem to have hidden effects which are not comunicated through effect icons like

    'Pirhana Mod' effect icons
    - CRITICAL + 4%
( although this mod does do Bleed damage as well )

    ...
Its not just the Piranha Mod, there are other Mods which dont display their bonus effects when creating a mod.

    I mean what gives?
Is this intentional, and if so whats the point of it?
Surely this is not a deliberate feature in the game?

I mean when at the Workbench and selecting from the loads of Mods ( and there are alot ), the fact that some mod effects may be invissible doesnt help my desicion making at all, it just confuses me and i dont know what to select.

If there was some kind of system to this i would understand it, like for example all Golden Mods have 1 "hidden" effect.
But thats not the case ( as far as i know ), its just some seemingly random mods simply dont show all their effects when modding weapo.

Im suprised no one else sees this as a problem/ flaw/ bug.
