General Tips
The best things about this DLC is the ease at which you can get money so be sure to loot the zombies.
The biggest loot drops I've found have been from thugs on Arena A. However, all zombies do drop cash on all arenas, but the Thug, Floater, Butcher, and Ram generally drop the most cash.
Other loot drops include various ammo types, and medium medkits. If you have plenty of medkits on you then you probably won't need to loot these, but I will sometimes pick them up and then drop them in a somewhat safe area when playing co-op so other players can pick them up.
Fire is BAD! While fire mods can be the most effective against the zombies it is also the most detrimental to playing. Fire hurts, and makes it nearly impossible to walk. So if you are going to use a fire mod make sure you are not using it near other players, and be very careful.
Shock/electric mods are almost as bad, but are no where near as annoying as the fire effects on players. So use with caution.
Poision mods can affect a players view, but at a much lesser effect than the other mods. This is my mod of choice, while it doesn't effect the floater, or poisoned zombies, it can make it easier to deal with bigger zombies or hoards when zombies start puking.
Bombs can be very useful, but if playing co-op be mindful of where the other players are located and going to avoid killing other players. The best bombs to use are: meat bait, deo-bombs, and bleed bombs.
DO NOT complete kill a co-op player challenge, unless you are playing with friends who wouldn't mind.
Challenges may or may not help getting weapons in the arena. It is speculated that it does help, but is not yet confirmed.
When a zombie is carrying a weapon it will appear on the mini-map as a red skull. DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT be the player who runs after the red zombie to get the loot. It is rude and unneccessary, wait for the zombie to come to you if you are playing co-op. Be sure to try and get an understanding of how the other players want to deal with the weapons. Some people pile them up, others will throw them away if they are not good weapons. It is also suspected that throwing a weapon off the map helps bring another weapon carrying zombie sooner.
If you are playing co-op do your best to be a team player and not piss off the other players. Working together will more likely get you farther than trying to be rambo. Also don't run around like crazy trying to get as many kills as possible. Its annoying and is more likely to get you killed. There are various "choke points" on the various arenas that can be used to avoid that need as well. If you think your a beast zombie killer, and want to act like rambo then play solo.
Load up before going into the arena. Max out your ammo on any guns you are carrying, and load up as much bleach and metal scrap you can to create your ammo. Load up on large medkits at least 60. While there are ammo and medium medkit drops, these will not always drop as often as needed.
Pause! You can pause the game to take a break or allow a co-op player the time needed at the workbench. If all players are paused, or at the workbench, or viewing the inventory, map... then the game will pause. I reccomend at least 1 player stay at the pause menu to make sure the game is paused or running. While the game is pause the zombies will not move.
You can push up on the direction pad (consoles) to view the inventory/map/players/...
While you can play the arenas at any level I don't consider it the best way to level and is advantageous to level up all the way first.
Characters
The best characters for solo would be SamB and then Logan, as they have the biggest health bars when upgraded.
SamB is the tank role and has the skill to attract zombies. This skill can be useful in directing the path of the zombies. Also with the ram/tackle skills it may be easier for SamB to clear out, (knock down), enemies and revive players quickly.
Xian is the sharp weapons expert. Her skill set can make health packs more effective, and greatly increase stamina and attack power with sharp weapons. Additionally she has the "ninja skill" which can cause zombies to avoid her, which can be useful considering her relatively small health bar.
Logan is the throwing expert. His one handed wepaon and throwing weapon skills make him a great damage character, along with the increased health bar skills he is a beast for the arena. Splash damage is great for taking out groups of enemies quickly, and when using a developer mod the effects are transferred to all surrounding enemies. It's also hilarious to throw the homerun developer mod and watch a group of zombies go flying. His rage is also great for quickly clearing out a group of enemies, especially when a co-op player is down.
Purna is the support character. Purna has aura skills which boost all players' certain attributes. Purna is also the weapon expert, and is the best suited treaure hunting player. Purna can hang back and give support to players by her aura boost and using guns to take out enemies from a distance. Her rage is also great for taking out enemies quickly, though its not as effective as logan's fury it is the second best fury for the arena.
A thing of great importance to all characters is how you spend the skill points. Purna can be geared for treasure hunting or more towards guns/support. So be sure to choose wisely how you spend your points to focus a characters role/ability for arena play. Also creating multiple characters with different skill sets is advantageous as you can have greater choice of how you want to play.
Playing Solo
Can sum it up in two words: meat bait. Or 3 words: meat bait/explosives. Purna is probably best for this method for a couple reasons, unless you are highly skilled at duping weapons on the fly, then Logan would be the best. (I have all characters at 60).
To be more specific, go in with a lot of meat, duct tape, deodorant, batteries, metal scraps, bleach, etc. Load your main inventory with Incindiary Grenades (I used to hate these, but they are hands down my favorite now). I'll just quick run through Purna strategy from here. Stand by the workbench in arena B. When the wave start getting difficult at about 30+ throw meat bait. And like the Beatles song Lady Madonna...see how they run! Hahaha. From there it's game over. Throw meat bait, wait for the horde to gather, and throw a bomb at em. From there the only way to have fun is to use a variety of bombs. I found it mildly enjoyable to throw a poison bomb at a group of 20 or so infected/butchers and unload a clip of striker auto rifle into the crowd. Incin grenade and pride auto rifle also fun. Oh and have your meat bait in your bottom right equip slot cause that's what will be equipped when you come out of fury. When the zombies get to lvl 60 (wave 42 +/-) one bomb of any type probably isn't gonna kill the butchers. So don't be stingy with the meat bait, that's the only way you'll die. When the thug/suicider waves come along, pick and choose how you wanna kill them. I find the most effective way to be: detox heavy pistol, crit, striker shotgun. That will kill a lvl 60 thug with full life on wave 60+ no doubt. Pop the suiciders with the heavy pistol (they don't die in one shot anymore with a pistol or rifle unless it crits) preferably near a thug or 5 lol. Always keep ammo stocked, never ever run out of meat bait or some sort of explosive, and chuck that meat. Oh! And if a butcher or infected actually makes it up to you and u think your gonna die...meat bait/dodge jump. Simple as that.

Alternatively, knowing your character and arena's choke point can greatly increase your chances of survival.
Playing Co-op
Know your crew, what their characters are and prefferred play style can make a difference. Utilzing mic's is of great benefit as well. If you are playing with a group of people who aren't using mics then pay attention to how they are playing. Adjust your play style to notice whether players are running around like crazy or 'camping' in a general area. Also be aware of Sam B's location as zombies like him the most! If everyone can hold their own then it is not difficult to each camp in different areas on a map, as it divides up the zombies to a certain extent. Camping together also has its advantages and disadvantages. You'll be closer to be able to pick up a downed player, but may also get overrun more easily.
Choosing a good group of characters may be helpful as well. I think only 1 Sam B is neccessary for any party to help direct the flow of zombies, and the more Purna with aura boost the better as that skill stacks. Logan and Xian have great sharp weapon damaging skills which can quickly route any zombies.
There are many different group combinations that can be made so play around with all types of group and find your favorite!
Arenas
Arena A - easy
This is the easiest map to play, and easiest to fall off and lose thrown weapons. So watch those edges! Additionally, I have found this to be the best map to loot for cash. It easy to get up to a high round and increase the potential monetary gain.
Choke points: At either end of the bridge, while sometime they will spawn at different parts of the map and come from either side, this can be avoided by staying in certain areas near the bridge. I prefer the top side as it is easier to toss grenades from the high point to the bottom. This is not an ideal map for logan as his primary damaging ability is thrown weapons. Using guns and grenades on this map work great.
Zombies:
- Walker
- Infected
- Suiciders
- Thugs
- Floaters
- Butchers
Mod location: down the hill and a little to the left from the work bench, can be found on the ground.
Arena B - very hard
This map takes place in an old weapon depot of some sort. It has two levels and can also be easily fallen off of. The zombies here start off at the highest level of any other map, and there is an increased amount of 'fire' zombies. It is highly recommended if playing co-op to have a good crew and all players should be level 60. I have not noticed anything special about this map in terms of loot.
Choke points: is in the main room where the work bench is located. From the work bench follow the elevated path up to the catwalk that is over the big ramp opening. As long as you stay up in this area with out stepping on the stairs towards the workbench from the back corner the zombies will only come up the stairs opposite of the workbench. If your standing in the back corner you have quite a while to wait until the zombies get to you. Playing co-op you can have 1-2 people at the top of the stairs knocking back zombies, and other players shooting them or throwing bombs.
zombies:
- Walkers
- Infected
- Suiciders
- Thugs
- Floaters
- Butchers
Mod location: in about the middle of the tunnel on the bottom level, almost directly below the spawn area.
Arena C - Hard
This map takes place in an overgrown swamp type area. I find this the best arena to get legendary/exceptional weapons. I've also had more than one weapon drop happen in a round with 2 purna characters in the game. It may be a good test to try to get 4 purna's on this map with the treasure hunting skills and see what happens.
Let me know your findings if you do this before I do and I will update accordingly. Throwing weapons on this map work well since they can't fall off just be careful about throwing weapons at zombies in tall grass.
Choke point: From the spawn area go straight and to the left. Right before the back corner near the electric fence there is an open part of the field. If you stand parallel with the tree zombies will all spawn in front of you. If you stand beyond that point some zombies will spawn in that tree area. Either way works in co-op as one or two players should be able to easily handle that small ammount of zombies that spawn there. The open area also provides a great place to pick up loot. Camping in the workbench area may seem like a good idea with people watching each door, but if you get over taken you are trapped.
zombies:
- Walkers
- Infected
- Suiciders
- Thugs
- Floaters
- Rams
Mod location: In the workbench room against the back wall on a shelf
Arena D - medium
This map takes place at night in a sort of creek water type area. The area have varying heights with two buildings and boat. This another map that you can't fall off of but, so throwing weapons is possible with out falling off the map, but it is possible to drown. It This map also has 2 work benches.
Choke points: On top of either house is a popular position as the majority of the zombies will have to come up the stairs, though sometimes they will come up the opposite stairs and come behind if no one is watching that side. Another choke point is the boat If you have a Sam B character in the boat most of the zombies will funnel into the boat, but some may try to drop from the side so one or two character on top of the boat, or on the cliff can easily take care of those zombies.
zombies:
- Walker
- Infected
- Suicider
- Thug
- Floater
- Butcher
Mod location: in the house with the workbench
